The Flood of 2008 was one of the worst in over 50 years for this region. The Lake Lawrence area, located off Route 50, was devastated.  Some businesses in that area may not reopen and some people who lived there are considering not going back.

Route 33 in Westport, located across the Memorial Bridge from Vincennes, is the route that the majority of our customers take to visit the winery. You can see by some of the photos that the water was well over ten-feet deep in places.

The Birds Road, which leads to the winery was also under several feet of water. Brian and I watched fish swim across the road as the flood waters began to rise.  When the flood reached it's peak, the water was just short
of the driveway.

Special thanks to Dan Reitmeyer for allowing us to use his photos of Lake Lawrence and Route 33.
