WHITE OWL WINERY'S
PURGATORY CELLARS
WINS  SECOND MEDAL FOR
ONE-OF-A-KIND WINE

(For Immediate Release from Birds, IL)

Purgatory Cellars, the high-end wine line of White Owl Winery, has won its second medal of the year in the 24th Annual Dallas Morning News Wine Competition held in February in Dallas, Texas.

PERSIMMON SOLERA, the only wine they entered in the competition, took a bronze medal.  This one-of-a-kind wine, made entirely from Midwestern persimmons, is crafted in the Solera Sherry method.

PERSIMMON SOLERA is bottled under White Owl’s high-end wine line, Purgatory Cellars.  It won the Illinois Governor’s Cup last year for Best Dessert Wine in the state and is available for sale at various wine shops and retail locations throughout Indiana and Illinois.

Over 3,000 wines were entered from the U.S. and around the world. The panel of 59 judges was comprised of those who work with wine on a daily basis: restaurateurs, retail wine buyers, wine stewards, enologists and wine and food writers.

Winners were not authorized to publish their awards until now so that the Dallas Morning News could be the first to publish the results in their special magazine, Salut!

(White Owl Winery/Purgatory Cellars is located 10 miles northwest of Vincennes, IN on the Illinois side of the Wabash River.)
