WHITE OWL WINERY
SCORES SEVEN AWARDS
IN AMENTI DEL VINO WINE COMPETITION

(For Immediate Release from Birds, IL   May 28, 2008)
White Owl Winery received more good news this week.  Once again, the winery from Birds, Illinois has been notified that they have received more medals in an international wine competition. This time seven of their wines took medals in the 37h Annual Amenti del Vino Wine Competition held last week in Cromwell, Connecticut.

The latest wines to take medals for White Owl Winery are:

PERSIMMON SOLERA         SILVER
CHERRY PIE                          SILVER
SPICED PEAR                        SILVER
GRAPEFRUIT SPARKLE       SILVER
PERSIMMON                         BRONZE
SNOWY WHITE                     BRONZE
HOLIDAY SPARKLE             BRONZE

“It’s great to see our sparkling wins take medals,” said winery founder, Joy Neighbors.  This is the first time we’ve entered our sparkles in competition this year.  Few commercial wineries would attempt to make a wine from grapefruit.  To win a silver medal with it shows the versatility of the fruit and wine-making process.”

According to Gene Spaziani, President of Amenti del Vino, “Over 450 wines were entered from around the world, but only 214 wines earned medals.”

The judging panel was made up of over 25 members including wine journalists, wine-makers, wine educators and grape growers.

White Owl Winery is located 10 miles north of Vincennes, Indiana on the Illinois side of the Wabash River.  W.O.W.  offers complimentary tastings of their award winning wines on the weekends.
